Ellsworth Vines Match Play
The American champion Henry Ellsworth Vines Jr. (September 28, 1911 – March 17, 1994) was one of the best tennis players in the world in the 1930s, ranked World No. I or co-No. 1 in 1932, 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937. Vines was able to win Pro Slam titles on three different surfaces. He later became a professional golfer and reached the semifinals of the PGA Championship in 1951.
