Background facts:

Wright & Ditson was founded as a merger of George Wright and Henry A. Ditson in 1878. George Wright claimed to be the first U.S. tennis importer. They sold sporting goods and related products such as clothing and shoes. Spalding bought Wright & Ditson in 1891 keeping the name Wright & Ditson into the late 1940th. The Surprise release one was made 1889-1894. The model's name was used until around 1938.
